Martin Dobson

Martin Dobson is arguably one of the greatest ever players to have played for Burnley, while playing at the club he was considered by many to be one of the best player sin the game and was sold to Everton in August 1974 for a then staggering £300,000. The Clarets used the proceeds of the transfer to build the Bob Lord Stand shortly after.

Leighton James

James is arguably one of the finest strikers to have played for Burnley FC. He played for the clarets over two different spells and was a constant threat in front of goal through out. He left the club for Derby County in November 1975 for a staggering £300,000, however, he returned to Burnley in September 1978, signing for a fee of £165,000 coming from Burnley FC. He played under former Burnley football legend, Jimmy Adamson.

Brian Flynn

Flynn started of his playing career at Burnley in 1972 and soon established himself as a regular in the side, occupying the midfield position. After the clarets suffered relegation in 1976, he moved on to sign for Leeds United. He returned to Burnley for a second spell between 1982 and 1984 before enjoying spells playing for Cardiff City, Doncaster Rovers and Bury. He made 66 international appearances for Wales between 1975 and 1984.
